MyCancerDB Celebrates National DNA Day

We are celebrating here at MyCancerDB because seventeen years ago this month marks the end of the Human Genome Project—an incredibly important milestone that has provided tools for the diagnosis and treatment of patients afflicted with genetic diseases, including cancer. We honor this massive achievement in science each year on April 25th, National DNA Day.

The project drastically expanded our knowledge of human genetics, which has led to the ability to tailor treatments as individualized as the disease.  As a result, patients can now use their genomic data to treat life-threatening cancers.

Our founder did so, and received a personalized vaccine based on the unique genetics of his cancer. This has helped prolong and improve the quality of his life, and has led to the founding of MyCancerDB to help others do the same.

Yes, there is so much more for us to discover about the makeup of our own bodies. There is even more to build on for health and healing, but it’s important to look back and see how far we’ve come, and then look forward with hope.
